Helps the food industry to comply with new European regulations

The food industry has to conform to new European Union (EU) regulations on traceability since January 1st, 2005. EU regulation 178/2002/EC on General Food Law, and in particular Article 18, requires all food and feed businesses supplying products in the EU to be able to establish traceability following high profile food safety scares in recent years, such as BSE and Foot & Mouth.

That includes the suppliers of food, feed, food-producing animals, and any other substance intended to be,or expected to be, incorporated into a food or feed at all stages of production, processing and distribution.

Companies can protect against failure to comply by automating their supply chains using simple barcode technologies, Thermal Transfer remaining the most adapted solution to print barcodes.

Printing barcodes for the food industry required the use of inks approved for contact with foodstuff. ARMOR offers a wide range of Thermal Transfer ribbons approved for food contact.

ARMOR is pleased to announce that its new AWX® 500+ has been analyzed and approved for food contact applications according to EU directive 1935/2004/EC, BGA standard and FDA CFR 175.105. Please log on your Extranet ttr.armor.fr to obtain the food contact certificate in a downloadable Pdf format.
